Weekend Shows
The first weekend of the month features two of my favorite bands; first we have Sarah Benck and the Robbers from Omaha. She is a demure looking 22 year old but when this gal straps on that guitar and steps up to the microphone, look out. She writes great songs and the band is very tight behind her.
Saturday the 4th is Jeff Finlin and his band. Jeff is one of the best songwriters you will ever hear. He has a new song in the latest Cameron Crowe movie called Elizabethtown, check it out.
Finally Bonepony returns Nov. 10th. They always pack the house so get there early if you want a seat then I dare you to sit still for this performance. Tramp has left the band and Kenny Wright replaces him. Their latest CD is really doing well and may be their best yet. Come pick up a copy and help these guys who just had their trailer and all their equipment stolen.
Speaking of parties The Indulgers come to Oskar’s for the first time on the 11th and a rockin’ good Irish time it will be, don’t miss this first rate Irish band and wear your dancing shoes. Their new CD “Out In the West” is being played all across the country.
The 17th we present another new band for Oskar’s Amy and the Continentals www.amyandthecontinentals.com from Estes Park, Amy and Willie Panker the drummer are from New Orleans so expect lots of good blues with a Nawlins feel.
Lionel Young and his band play Nov. 18th. They are very funky and it isn’t often you get to see a classically trained violinist play it like a guitar. They are sporting a new keyboard player that Lionel raves about.
The day after Thanksgiving the 24th we showcase a young French harmonica player named Nico Wayne Toussaint from Pau France,he doesn’t have much original material but plays the old classic Chicago blues like he was born there, he has a very powerful sound.
but not least we have the energetic Peaches and the Groove doctors in the house on the 25th. Peaches Embry is a great vocalist and can really whale on the congas and sports a great band with Dave Davis and Wardell Harston contributing.
