Friday December the 7th brings back Denver Bluesman Maynard Mills www.mayn ardmillsblues.com Maynard plays classic blues and lots of funky danceable songs as well as some acoustic slide from the Masters.

Saturday the eighth will be the zany honky-tonk of Halden Wofford and the Hi-Beams www.hibea ms.com always a crowd pleaser at Oskar's get there early for a seat.

Andrew Jr. Boy Jones ww w.myspace.com/andrewjrboyjones comes back on Friday the fourteenth. Jr. Boy is a great Texas guitarist who learned from Freddy King and spent many years playing in Charlie Musselwhite's band a great singer and songwriter as well, don't miss this one.

Local blues outfit the Rhythm All Stars ww w.myspace.com/therhythmallstars are here on Saturday the 15th, they play hard driving blues and pride themselves on getting people on the dance floor.

The Bobby Walker band w ww.bobbywalkermusic.com is here for the first time on Friday the 21st. He is from the western slope and is a great singer of the blues whether it is from behind the drum kit or out front playing the guitar. He has opened for such diverse people as Elvin Bishop and Merle Haggard.

Jason Ricci and New Blood www.jasonricci.com are back for another night of great blues and harmonica playing. Jason and the guys have just put out their first major release on Electro- Groove records Rocket #9 so this night will be a CD release party. Look for the guy with the reddish hair although knowing Jason it could be purple by the time he gets here on Saturday the 22nd.

The All Night Honky-tonk All Stars return to the front range for a couple of shows and we are lucky enough to get them at Oskar's for Friday the 28th. This was one of the areas first honky-tonk bands. They get together once or twice a year with Rebecca Frazier, Danny Shafer, Jason Pawlina, Greg Schochet and Jimdandy Sullivan.

Saturday the 29th is The Interstate Stash Express www.myspace.com/interstatestashexpress fronted by Terry Kishiyama Oskar's graphic artist and great guitarist. These guys rock the house with lots of great originals.

As a special treat George Nelson will bring his piano downstairs and play from 5:30-8:30pm on Saturday the 8th,22nd and 29th this month. Join George for happy hour on these particular Saturdays and have some fun with his great approach to piano music and vocals.

Weekday Music

Thursdays this month start off with The Spring Creek Bluegrass band ww w.springcreekbluegrassband.com they continue to win awards all over the country. They play a great mix of originals and traditional bluegrass and are a joy to listen to.
They will also host the following Thursday's first bluegrass Scramble on the 13th. The Scramble is an opportunity for all you pickers to put your name in a hat and get on stage and play with the band or with other pickers. It should be fun come and join in.

Thursday the 20th Lyons based band Taarka www.taarka.com will bring their gypsy style of string band music to the stage. Enion is a marvelous violin player and her husband David can play most stringed instruments.

McCumberland Gap www.kortmusic.com will play the last Thursday of the month on the 27th. Kort has just released a CD that features Vince Gill and our own Sally Van Meter. Great Americana and Bluegrass originals and oldies.

Don't forget our well-attended Bluesgrass pick on Tuesdays hosted by K. C. Groves and Eric Thorin. All levels of players are welcome and encouraged to play in a relaxed atmosphere upstairs.

The first Wednesday of every month is our electric blues jam hosted by Tim Crawford and the Four Am band.

The second Monday ( 12/10) is our acoustic plug-in blues jam hosted by Peter Maves, Patrick Cullie and Brian Donnell everyone gets to play.

On Monday the 17th we are hosting a party for the Mojo's music academy and the Band Mojomama www.moj omama.net will be recording a live video at Oskar Blues starting at 7 pm so get there early and be in the video.

The last Monday of the month is of course New Years Eve and we are planning a big night with food specials and an exciting band The Informants www.theinf ormantsband.com the last time this band played Oskar's the dance floor kept full all night with their great fun songs and them dancing themselves. They played blues & R&B with many risqué and bawdy songs to get ya goin'.

Jeff and Vida www.jeffandvida.co m from Nashville stop by on the 9th with Vida's country style vocals and Jeff incredible string instrument playing they have 5 CD's out and tour all over the country and Europe. They are always well received at Oskar's with their bluegrass and roots rock sound.

The 16th will feature local artists the Blue Mountain Ranch Hands playing old time fiddle tunes with great harmony singing and original material and classic western swing songs. Zeke Little is a fiddle master and his wife Jani & Nancy Thorwardson sing so well together.

Little Liza Jane www.littlelizajane.net appear on the 23rd this all female acoustic group features mandolin, guitar, bass and dobro where all four ladies sing harmony together and make a joyful noise. They will provide holiday entertainment and great original tunes.

Eric Thorin from town will showcase his new group The Big Bug Bop-a-Billy Band www.ericthorin.com on the 30th, the master bass player has put together a four piece band that includes Mitch Chmara on guitar and John Stewart on sax with drums. They play bluegrass, honky-tonk and bebop from the pretenders to Motown to country it should be very good and different.
