Dale's Wins Another Huge Honor
Each year, Denver-based 5280 Magazine releases its annual Top of the Town issue honoring the best of Colorado's food, entertainment, art, sports and fashion culture.
The 2008 Top of the Town issue has just come out, and it gives our Dale's Pale Ale a wonderful honor of Top Colorado Export. [ learn more ]
Oskar Blues Partners with Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey
Starting this month, Oskar Blues Brewery will begin supplying the custom-made distiller’s wash for Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey, the pioneering micro distiller located in Denver, Colorado.
Oskar Blues will craft about 3000 gallons of Stranahan’s wash each week in its Longmont facility. Stranahan’s will purchase the wash and truck it by food-grade tanker to its Denver distillery.
"This is a very big deal for us," says Oskar Blues founder Dale Katechis. "Jess and his team are whiskey mavericks, they’re doing for whiskey what craft brewers have done for beer. They’ve proven that with guts, talent and a blind eye to the status quo, one can make whiskey as good as any out there. [ learn more ]
Gordon Wins World Medal
Our beloved Gordon won a bronze medal at the World Beer Cup awards ceremony in San Diego this past Saturday.
Our gloriously hopped tribute beer (brewed in honor of the late Gordon Knight) won the medal in the Imperial Red category, we're thrilled with the huge accolade.
Congratulations go out to our brewers Dave Chichura, Mike Hall, Eric Huber, Andy Brown and Rich Bathel. They do rock!
We also send out congrats to our Colorado and US beer-making peers who landed medals in the WBC.
Find fourpacks of Gordon at better beer stores in all Oskar Blues states.
Brothers BBQ Welcomes Dale's and Old Chub
Starting this month, all locations of the mighty Brothers BBQ will begin serving Dale's Pale Ale and Old Chub Scottish Style Ale! This is big deal for us, we've been fans of Chris and Nick O'Sullivan's exceptional ribs, barbecued chickens and other smoke-blessed treats for years. These cats bring a southern-style influence to BBQ you seldom see here in Colorado, and our assertive-but-elegant beers are a perfect match for their fare. Like us, they're also scrappy entrepreneurs who thrive on bringing joy and great taste to the folks of Colorado. Please stop in at your local Brothers BBQ outpost and order up some top-shelf Q and our beers. Details at http://www.brothers-bbq.com.
Jack Folk Art at Oskar Blues
We've been longtime fans of a mysterious folk artist, Jack, who we recently discovered lives in our own backyard of Estes Park. We've now turned over our dining room to Jack, giving him a "showing" of his wonderful portraits of blues and roots music legends. Jack paints his wonderfully charming, rustic portraits with house paint, on scrap wood he finds in his day gig as carpenter/builder. We also love it that Jack's art is very affordable: his portraits sell for just $300. Stop by and see -- and buy -- Jack's work this month and help us help a local and very worthy artist. Get details on Jack at http://jackfolkart.com.
Cost of Beer Supplies (and Oskar Blues beer) Rises
As you probably know, the craftbrewing industry is wrestling with some dramatically increased prices for malts and hops. Our costs for malts in 2008 have risen about 100%, and the costs for our hops have increased by as much as 400% for some hop varieties. [ learn more ]
Ten Fidy earns "2007 Beer of the Year" Honor
Our new winter seasonal, Ten FIDY Imperial Stout, was just deemed "Beer of the Year" by the Denver Post's Marcus Chamberland.
It's a huge honor for FIDY and our brewery! We're knocked out by the big acclaim for our latest canned good.
See the full review here and look for the beer in select retailers in Colorado. A small batch of FIDY (in cans and kegs) will reach the best bars and stores in a few of our other states in January. Keep your eyes peeled for it and get it while it lasts!
